Second Semester Applications

We have gotten a lot of questions about when the second semester applications will open! We want to give teachers a bit more time to update semester one grades, so once everyone has their official semester one grades on their transcript, our application will open. As a reminder, freshmen, this is the first semester you are eligible to apply for CSF, so we highly encourage you to do so! You will be starting your journey achieving lifetime membership.

The application will be listed under ‘Applications.’

If you haven’t already, please join our Google Classroom for updates/information! The code is on our main page.

First Fall Semester 2020 CSF Meeting

Hi members!

Congrats on being accepted again! Now that all applications should be reviewed and approved, we are holding our first All-Member CSF Meeting next Wednesday, October 28th!

The meeting will be MANDATORY for all members to maintain your lifetime membership status. We will give info on exactly what lifetime membership is, what you should do to acquire the award during your senior year, and a few events that we have released. It should be a relatively short meeting, mostly informational.

We WILL be taking attendance during the meeting so be sure to be there! :)

The link to view will be posted on our Google Classroom, so be sure to join our GC! The code to join if you haven’t already joined is under “Applications.”

Thanks guys! Looking forward to the meeting!

Hello CSF Members! 2020-2021 First Semester

Hello CSF Members!

We are so excited to start another school year with you! We are committed to providing a fun and engaging year of service for you, as we are not letting the coronavirus stop our volunteering efforts!

On this website, you will be able to read about who we are, check blog posts for announcements and events, as well as apply to be a CSF member. We are currently hard at work in creating a new application catered to the specific circumstances we are in currently. As soon as the application officially releases, you will be notified on Instagram, this website’s blog post, and Google Classroom. The Google Classroom link will be provided soon and will be posted on this website and on Instagram.

Even as our first official announcement has not come yet, we want to release these following updates:

- If you did not do an event last semester, that is okay! Last semester counted as a free event for all members. However, this school year, we are still expecting at least one event completed to keep your lifetime membership status. This may change, but this is what is happening as of right now.

- Senior MUST do an event this year to become lifetime members, even if you have already completed 4 consecutive or 5 non-consecutive semesters of active membership.

-If you are a freshman, you will be allowed to join CSF second semester only because we are required to see at least one semester of your high school grades. So if you are a freshman and a prospective CSF member, we highly encourage you to still keep up with CSF announcements during the first semester!

-PLEASE review our new application approval process by clicking on “Applications.”

That’s it for now! As soon as our first official announcement is broadcasted, more updated news will come. We are looking forward to a fun year of service!

Sincerely,

CSF Board 20-21

CSF White Gown Announcement

Dear Members of CSF,

We hope everyone has been having a wonderful start to the school year! There’ve been some rumors circulating campus regarding graduating in white, so CSF would like to take this opportunity to clear up any confusion. Unfortunately due to disagreements with admin, CSF will be unable to provide the white gown to graduating lifetime members. We are incredibly disheartened to share this news and the purpose of this blog post is to give an explanation behind why this decision was made.

In order to achieve the Lifetime Membership status, members must have 4 consecutive or 5 non-consecutive semesters of active membership. A semester of active membership entails attending and participating in at least one CSF volunteering event. It has happened that sometimes members are misinformed with the number of volunteering events they have completed which offsets their assumed requirements in order to achieve Lifetime Membership. Every-time a member participates in a volunteering event or drive, they usually receive a confirmation receipt that indicates and validated their participation.

Admin has made this decision to completely remove the white gown because they feel as if graduation is a token of unification and one of the last time the entire class will stand with each other as a unified front. Unfortunately, admin is unwilling to compromise despite the 150+ seniors and countless other CSF members who are on track to graduate in white. We have already explained to them that CSF members have dedicated their time and resources for their past four years at Dublin High, and how they deserve to graduate in the white gown that has always been promised for the last 15 years. We tried suggesting slowly turning over the white gown after the class of 2022 to ensure that this abrupt change wouldn’t affect on-track members. However, admin remains adamant to their decision.

By no notion does CSF advocate the white gown as a sole judgement of a student’s character over another as admin claims. Nor do lifetime members accrue more than 20 volunteering hours for obtaining  Lifetime membership as a sole statement of their character for college applications. No form of award of recognition will ever parallel the societal impact CSF volunteering and community service events have had. Graduating in white the white gown simply serves as a token of commemoration for Lifetime Members to recognize the time and dedicated service to their community.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this unfortunate news may have caused. The CSF Board is working at their full capacity to make sure all of CSF’s members’ concerns are heard. Regardless of the removal of the white gown, lifetime members will still be graduating with the gold CSF stoles.  We are working towards securing pins and/or tassels as well. The next steps are to get a consensus of what exactly the CSF members would like moving forwards. Please fill out this Google Form to the best of your abilities, even if you are not a senior. Thank you for your cooperation and we look forward to working with you to solve this issue.

All the criteria for membership is listed at our website at dublincsf.com/membership. Please reference this if there are any future questions regarding lifetime membership criteria; email us at dublinhighhcsf@gmail.com if you have further questions.

April Glide Trip

Hello Members,

Attached is the sign-ups for the last Glide trip for the 2018-2019 school year.

This trip will occur on FRIDAY APRIL 5th, WHICH IS DURING SPRING BREAK. The event will be from around 9am to 4:30 pm, so we recommend clearing out the entire day in your schedule if you wish to go. We will be taking the BART to and from San Francisco, and will be eating lunch there as well. In coordination with GLIDE, CSF can have twenty persons (including our CSF advisors and others offering supervision) go to GLIDE’s soup kitchen in San Francisco to serve lunch to the hungry of SF. GLIDE’s mission is to create an inclusive, loving community that serves to alleviate suffering and break the cycles of poverty and marginalization. CSF members can help by joining them to serve lunch to the hungry for a day. Duties will include serving food, busting tables, and handing out silverware and condiments.

Grace Cathedral Food Packing Event

Hello CSF members!

We'll be packing food at the Grace Cathedral in San Francisco on Saturday, March 9th. We'll be taking the BART there and back. The entire trip will run from about 9:00am to 4:30pm, but we will only be volunteering from about 12:00pm to 2:00pm. The rest of the day will be devoted to food, club bonding, and transportation! This is a first come first serve event (we currently have 30 spots open), and those whose parents can chaperone get priority. As always, if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us, and thank you for volunteering!

Oakland Zoo Event

Hello Members,

Welcome to Second Semester! We have lots of fun and exciting events coming up for you guys this semester, and one of them includes the new Oakland Zoo event. The Oakland Zoo Arroyo Viejo Creek Volunteer morning will be held on February 16th, from 9AM-12PM. CSF will be having a bonding in the afternoon because we are provided with free tickets to the Oakland Zoo for the full day to explore.

All volunteers must arrive by 9am for a brief introduction to the Arroyo Viejo Creek, that day’s project, safety, and proper use of tools. We work on a variety of tasks that may include: pulling invasive species, spreading mulch, moving materials, or planting native plants. The projects are 100% outdoors!

Again, after volunteering, volunteers will receive a wrist band which entitles them to free admission to the Zoo for the rest of the day. Volunteers get to take one ride on the train and the skyride (when running) on the day of their volunteer service. Volunteers may also bring their own cup or bottle to get a free soda. More information will be sent in an email to those who are selected to participate. Those with parent chaperones get priority!

All participants must sign the standard Volunteer Liability Release form, and all youth under 18 must have their parent or guardian sign the Volunteer Liability Release Minor Consent Waiver form. Each minor must have a separate form. All forms must be turned in to the check-in table upon arrival the morning of the Creek Day.

Volunteers must have their own rides. If they do not have a ride, they will need to schedule themselves a carpool. Thank you to those who are willing to carpool!
